Rett is caused by a random mutation on a single gene. Symptoms have been described as like having autism, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and anxiety disorder all at once. Research on Rett is extremely promising. Scientific approaches such as gene replacement offer the possibility of a profound reversal of symptoms. Funding is urgently needed to continue this exciting momentum.
